Stonecreek Men’s Club     April Newsletter

Greetings to All,

Time marches on! Spring is here and that usually means the Masters, baseball and lots of graduations.  But not this year! We will continue to play golf and keep safe with sunshine, fresh air and social distancing.  Our thanks to Stonecreek Golf Club for their special efforts to ensure our well being with extra sanitization, single carts, tee times and their “no touch” policy.  Feel free to be extra generous with your tips which are much appreciated by the outside staff.

Some highlights

  1. Club Championship:   First round results are in and the competition is wide open in all 4 flights with the top five players in each flight separated by about two strokes or less in all but one flight.  In the net category there are 4 players with rounds in the 60’s: George Nelson, John Anderson, Bo Bell and Al Kulvinskas. Nice rounds! Perfect conditions…For next week we promise a quick and immediate post tournament update with the gross results from each flight.  Expect this within one hour after completion. Verified and finalized results will follow with a full summary from Al K.

  1. Shirts:    2nd order has been placed and will be delivered in two weeks.  Point of contact/ Questions to Mike C.

  1. New website:  Registration info was sent via March 30th email.  As of yesterday 58 members have signed in and set up a password.  Please do so immediately. Questions to Ken H, email kricharder51@cox.net.

  1. Registration / Check in Changes:  when you go to sign up for our next tournament on April 22nd, you will be asked to prepay our new tournament fee which has changed to $15. You will then have to put in your credit card information and you will be charged $15.30 (includes admin fee).  This new tournament fee covers our $10 regular prize fee, our CTP Fund, Hole in one pot and our new $5 “ Net Skins by Flight” fee. This prepayment also eliminates our formal Men’s Club Check -In Desk. In the event you need to cancel, you will be given a credit to use for a future event. We will continue with this cashless prepayment process until at least the virus goes away. Please communicate closely with the Tournament Director Al K regarding any issues with tournament registration and cancellation. Your previous tournament winnings, CTPs and skins will now all be distributed to you via check.

  1. Profile of the Month: Introducing Jim Zontini

Jim is our most recent member to get a hole in one, achieving that on March 25th.

Hometown: Detroit, Michigan

How long in Arizona: 7 years

Family members:  Betsy and Jim have a son Michael, daughter Annmarie and son in law Chris.

Thing I enjoy the most: Spending time with granddaughters Olivia and Violet

My favorite swing thought: Hit the ball solid.

Men’s Club Comment: I am a relatively new member of the Club (2+ years) and really enjoy the great guys in the Club.  The recent hole in one was my first ever and certainly will be a memory of a lifetime. Playing partners were Larry Stewart, Mark Ferraro and Mike C.  Used a 5 iron on #12 which was playing 165 from the black tees. And yes, the skin held up!

Editor’s Note: Thanks, Jim, and I hope you changed balls before going into the water on #14.

Best to All,

Mike C
